BRCA Hereditary Cancer MASTR Plus - Multiplicom

26 genes associated with hereditary breast, ovarian and other cancers

The BRCA Hereditary Cancer MASTR Plus is a molecular assay for the identification of all mutations and CNVs in the 26 selected genes, as listed in the Key Features section, associated with hereditary breast, ovarian and other related cancers.

Today breast cancer is thought to be associated with mutations in other genes besides the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.  Many germline mutations in other genes (i.e. TP53, CDH1, PTEN, STK11), leading to high or moderate risk of familial hereditary cancers, have been identified by linkage and family-based studies.

The BRCA Hereditary Cancer MASTR Plus was developed in collaboration with European diagnostic centers and experts to allow for the detection of germline mutations and CNVs in relevant predisposition genes for hereditary cancers, such as breast and ovarian cancer.  The panel consists of 6-high (including BRCA1, BRCA2), 9-medium and 11-low genes penetrance according to appropriate patient population on high-risk assessment with the inherited targeted cancer syndromes.

Current methods, such as Sanger-based sequencing or other MPS panels with multiple genes not necessarily associated with increased breast and ovarian cancer risk, are time consuming, labor-intensive and expensive. Identification of germline mutations and CNVs with the BRCA Hereditary Cancer MASTR Plus provides a more significant, faster and cost-effective approach.
