BRCA MASTR Dx - Multiplicom

A CE-IVD validated diagnostic assay of breast and ovarian related cancer for the detection by NGS

BRCA MASTR™ Dx is a CE-IVD labeled molecular diagnostic assay for the identification of mutations in the coding regions of  BRCA1 and BRCA2 in individuals with increased risk for breast, ovarian and/or related cancers.

Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 have been linked to the development of hereditary breast- and ovarian cancer. Female mutation carriers, for either gene, have 60 % to 80 % lifetime risk of developing breast cancer and 20 % to 50 % of developing ovarian cancer. Male BRCA2 carriers have 6 % to 8 % lifetime risk of developing pancreatic, hepatic, prostate and breast cancer and can pass the mutation on to their children.

Family history and age are the most important criteria for a genetic testing request. Upon detection of a mutation various mitigation options are available to reduce the chance of developing cancer and the overall mortality rate. These options include preventive double mastectomy, as was famously chosen by Angelina Jolie in 2013, hormone replacement therapy, chemoprevention strategies and prophylactic measures.

Given the effective preventive measures that are available, screening for mutations in the BRCA gene enables healthcare providers and patients the information to make well-informed decisions. The BRCA MASTR Dx is the market-leading solution on which clinical geneticist and patients rely.
